What I appreciate about this restaurant is that it made me appreciate and understand Korean cuisine.
Yes, the food was fantastic. The way they had served their food was elegant yet simple. That simplicity is what elevate d the dining experience. It wasn't a fusion of different flavors out in one dish rather enjoying the tastes of an ingredient with as little to no additional ingredients. It's a good experience.
Also to add, people are really nice and friendly. -

The blandest soondooboo jjigae ever!
It's a shame because the name of the restaurant is "dooboo" which means soft tofu.... maybe I'm just spoiled from the Korean community back at home but Vancouver is also known for its big asian community!
Im giving it 3 stars because our server was kind and did her job to make us feel welcome when we came in. -

We love it here! It's a super clean, modern restaurant in our community and the food is great. We always go for the tofu soup as according to their name, that's what they're known for, and I think it's incredibly tasty. They have lots of options on their menu for different tastebuds. I did find that the amount of rice that they provide for you is smaller than I expected, but they will provide tea for the stone pot rice after putting the rice in the bowl for you. I appreciate how nicely presented all of the dishes are and overall, the service is great!

After playing a few hours of tennis, we were starving and needed some food to refuel. We decided to check out DooBoo, a Korean restaurant that neither of us had heard of, but was nearby.
We dropped in on a Sunday afternoon (around 1:45pm) and the place was packed. Service was odd for a Korean spot; they were slow, didn't offer any banchan refills and it was difficult to get water/tea cups refilled.
They're super stingy with the rice; we ordered a combo but they only gave us one bowl to share (that wasn't even filled to the top). It was a strange because the waitress originally grabbed both our bowls to fill but then she checked with one of the older waitresses and proceeded to fill just the one. Bizarre.
The menu is split into appetizers, mains, combos and specials. A small two page menu but beware, prices are higher than the norm.
- Banchan - sliced fish cake, kimchi and pickled daikon with onion. All the side dishes were solid, especially the sliced fish. Unfortunately, our waitress never offered any refills.
- Soup & bulgogi ($20.99) - we went with combo A and opted for the beef tofu soup (spicy) and spicy pork bulgogi. Their tofu soup came out piping hot. Tofu pieces were soft and the broth had good flavour but there was barely any beef. Again, really stingy. Spicy pork bulgogi was nicely seasoned and slightly spicy but it was a small, small portion.
Decent food but portions are tiny and pricey. Not on our must return list with so many other Korean spots in the area. 2.5 stars. -

A great little spot for tasty food. Very nice workers and staff, I shared the bibimbap which was pretty good. Food and service was great. I like that they gave us a pitcher of water for the table. I'll come back with a bigger group so I can try more items on the menu!
